What asbestos guidance involves
Corrugated asbestos-cement roofing was widely used on sheds, garages and outbuildings up until the early 2000s, and it's generally safe if left undisturbed and in good condition — the risk comes from it being drilled, broken or cut, which can release fibres into the air. That's why it needs different handling to a normal shed roof: HSE guidance covers the safe management and removal of asbestos-containing materials, and for anything beyond a very small, low-risk job that usually means a licensed asbestos removal contractor rather than a general waste team.
